artlink has established itself in Switzerland as an important centre for the promotion of literature from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. The work in this area serves the purpose of making the literature of distant continents and regions more widely accessible and enabling the creation of a dialogue through literature. The promotion take place on different levels; public relations for events and publications relating to literature from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe; literary events and readings; documentation of the work of authors from these regions of the world who live and work in Switzerland; the Literature Club, artlink works together with litprom, the society for the promotion of African, Asian and Latin American literature based in Frankfurt.

A newsletter regularly informs interested parties concerning events in Switzerland. artlink takes part in literary events and is present with a stand at the BuchBasel and the Salon du livre in Geneva.

The Literature Club has around 850 members in Switzerland. Each member will receive 4 new publications every year, as well as 4 issues of the magazine „Literaturnachrichten“ and at least once per year a free entry to a reading by one of the authors included in the club programme.

artlink organises five readings per year in Berne primarily at the ONO stage. artlink also cooperates with promoters in other Swiss cities for the organisation of readings for authors from  Africa, Asia and Latin America. Partners include amongst others the literary houses in Basel and Zürch, as well as libraries in St. Gallen and Zürich, in 2011 this will also include the Afro-Pfingsten and the Nord-Süd-Haus Winterthur.
