It's a journey over melting glaciers in Europe and Asia.

The photo series captures the impact of human activities on our planet's most delicate ecosystems, focusing on melting glaciers. The series features images of textiles covering the glaciers, the construction of new dams, and groups of people within vibrant landscapes, all of which combine to form a complex narrative of nature's transformation.

The textures of the fabrics meld with the rawness of ice, showing the last attempt to stop the glacier from becoming water again. The dams stand as both symbols of human ingenuity and reminders of our urgent need to address the environmental challenges at hand. As viewers immerse themselves in these thought-provoking visuals, they are invited to contemplate the profound connections between human society and the natural world. It's an inspiration for collective efforts towards sustainable coexistence.

Except for abstract values, I have concrete historical facts in the series. Glaciers in Switzerland are covered to protect them from melting. Switzerland’s glaciers lost one-third during the last decade and 10% of their volume in the last two years. Dry winters followed by hot summers were responsible for the rapid melting. Another shot shows the biggest in Europe dam reconstruction. Spitallamm arch dam, built in 1932, Along with the 42-metre-high Seeuferegg gravity dam, forms the largest artificial reservoir in Switzerland, the Grimselsee. It keeps water for people, but also forms an artificially constructed landscape in the middle of the Alp mountains.

Contrary to the detailed digital photos, I'm adding analogue photo memories of hiking glaciers and mountains. They are bright and blurry. I used cross-processing to make the colours dreamy. When we perceive the information, it's usually very emotional. And we remember those emotions and feelings, not the real situations. The half-overexposed image symbolises how easily we can erase whole pages of natural history - giant ecosystems. I want our planet to survive, not only in our memories but thrive in reality, which is a sentiment shared by many who are concerned about the environment.

It's natural for the water of glaciers to become fluid again. And it's natural for our world to change. But we are responsible now for this rapid change. And would it be the place for us in this newly melted and evaporated world?

Each picture reveals two stories - my creative process and the story that each individual brings to the session, including their identity, hopes, fears, and happiness. One couple allowed me to capture their love, happiness, and sense of belonging in a single image.

Brocken still-life is about fragile things in our life. we can break them without intention, and then it's not possible to repair them, but we can try to find beauty in this new form.
