I am currently working on the organisation of the fifth edition of the international stand-up comedy festival: Rencontres Internationales de Rire (RIR) à Niamey to be held in Niamey, Niger from 15 to 20 May 2023.

Quick Facts:

I am Iro le President, born Iro Abdoul Aziz Maman. I am a self-taught Nigerien comedian, director and scenographer. I work with texts by African authors in general and Nigeriens in particular. I am the promoter of the international stand-up comedy festival: Rencontres Internationales de Rire à Niamey (RIR) and am currently organising the 5th edition. The aim is to give a generation of young professional comedians the opportunity to develop and revive humour in Niger, and to access opportunities to exchange, educate and entertain through laughter. I intend to set up a permanent training workshop in humour and acting. Thanks various cultural collaborators, we will receive volunteer trainers from Africa and Europe.

Further, a new theatre project entitled Tortuous Path will perform in September 2023. The solo piece based on a monologue enacted by a woman addresses breast cancer. It is a vibrant cocktail of music, song and text. In December 2023, my fifth one-man show entitled President for Life will premiere. President for Life is a show that looks at the issue of democratic change from an ironic and satirical angle. In the long term, I am looking for collaborators in theatre and humour to run a caravan project to train in acting, dramaturgy and stand-up in the eight regions of Niger. The project is entitled "TARMAC". The idea is to recruit collaborators from abroad to jointly apply for project funding.

« C’est ça ! » est un spectacle d’humour qui caricature le mauvais comportement des humains dans une ironie et autodérision propre à l’artiste. Ce spectacle aborde le narcissisme, le matérialisme, la vantardise, le mariage, l’amour sous un angle satirique peint d’ironie… De la parenté à plaisanterie aux vécus quotidiens, l’artiste nous transporte dans son monde imaginaire ou le « moi » reste le centre du monde.
