I am presently working on "Movement 36". A research based project where I am travelling round the 36 states of Nigeria, researching and exploring movement as a choreographic tool and a human survival mechanism as regards migration. Short project description

Quick Facts:

My name is Obiajulu but many people in many country know as Valu, i am dancer, choreographer and a community organizer. Some people and the media also refer to me as an activist. I am an artist who is interested in the multiple ways that dance as a form of art can be used for problem-solving, raising social conscious and organizing communities.


My works have been featured on Aljazeera, BBC World, euro news, Africa news and more. 

I have had the privilege of teaching, performing and giving presentations in Singapore, Switzerland, Canada, France, Greece, U.S.A, Namibia and more.


I became the first certified dancer in Nigeria in artistic activism after completing training at the New York-based Center for Artistic Activism in Conakry 2019.


I am presently based in Lagos, Nigeria which is also where I work from. I am the founder of Ennovate Dance House in Lagos, a collective of hyper creative dancers.


I am the founder and artistic director of one of the largest community based dance festival in Nigeria, "SLUMPARTY", which gathers professional artists from various parts of the world to explore a yearly theme and engage community members through performance arts.
