I am currently working on an anthology of stories by Zimbabwean women about Zimbabwean women.
Quick Facts:
I am a 24 year old female spoken word artist from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. My poetry is inspired by senses, emotions, people and everything that makes us be. I am most passionate about subjects around femininity, feminism and gender equality. My poetry also taps into issues of social justice and general social commentary.
I have had the opportunity to perform both locally and internationally, sharing the stage with some renowned local and international artists such as Bastirai Chigama, Edith Wewutonga, Thandi Dhlana, Tariro Negitare, Nkwali, Siphokazi Jonas, Joseph Solomon and a lot more. I have worked with numerous organizations such as UNESCO, PLAN international, Citizen's manifesto, YETT, Moto Republik, WILD and a lot more. Collaboration is at the heart of my art and delivery, I believe it's where all the magic comes from!
Three relevant works from the last 5 years of artistic practice:
- Echos, short poetry based film. It is a story about safety and security as a woman and how fear is a shadow most of us live with on a daily basis. (2022, Zimbabwe)
